Next steps in the stroke review
The Joint Committee of Clinical commissioning Groups for the stroke review have decided to proceed with setting up hyper acute and acute stroke units at Darent Valley, Maidstone and William Harvey hospitals. There is now a great deal of work to be done to develop these units. Find out more below.
Read the implementation section of the decision making document which sets out more detail about the timeline and approach to getting the new hyper acute stroke units up and running across Kent and Medway.
Building the new units
Each of the three hospitals that will host a hyper acute stroke unit will need to undertake varying degrees of refurbishment and building work. Find out more about these plans and get update on progress.
Developing our workforce
The benefits of hyper acute stroke units come from having highly skilled staff available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We have developed detailed plans to help ensure we have the staff we need.
