Kent County Council have launched support products for the care sector as part of a new care worker development project.  Recruitment, retention and development of the care workforce are seen as a crucial part of the transformation work across Kent and Medway and were also identified as priorities in a survey of those working in the sector.

The KCC website now has a dedicated web-page for registered managers.  This will feature news  and resources plus information about events, funding and training.  KCC have also launched a monthly newsletter which will be available on the website and is also being sent out widely to care managers.

The first conference for registered managers is being held on 27 March.  The event is fully booked but information from the event will be circulated afterwards to help those who couldn’t attend.

To further support Registered Managers, Skills for Care facilitates 6 Registered Manager Networks (RMN) across Kent. The networks meet every few months and offer a platform for registered managers to meet, support each other, share best practices, update their current thinking and develop their services.

The RMNs covers a range of topics such as quality, compliance, recruitment & retention, local issues and medication. Speakers include CQC inspectors, local commissioners, Job Centre Plus, solicitors and training providers. The chair is always a Registered Manager and the topics discussed are led by the chair and the managers that attend.
